“The landscape and the rural environment is very important and influential in my designs”.
I am Arabella García López architect and founder of Manduka design Studio. I studied architecture at the ETSAB (Escuela Técnica de Arquitectura de Barcelona).
I was born and raised in Mallorca, where I currently live. My house/workshop is in Binissalem, in the center of the island. I consider the function of the house/workshop, as well as the relationship with the landscape and the rural environment very important and influential in my designs. Inspiration is found in the environment, in the architecture, in the landscapes, in elements of nature...
I have always felt a great interest and passion for gastronomy. Manduca means “food/food” in colloquial language. Therefore, the name of the brand comes from that joint passion for design and cuisine. The collections seek to complement and make gastronomic experiences unique through the dialogue between food and its presentation at the table.
My work is complemented with designs of decorative objects and small furniture in which local materials are used (Binissalem stone, hydraulic tiles, terrazzo, ...) and are produced by hand on the island.
